New Lease of Life for The Swan Theatre

Taken from Worcester Live Website:

2009’s going to be a great year for the Swan Theatre as it undergoes extensive renovation and improvement works to prolong its life for generations to come.

Now, thanks to Council Funding, a grant from The Monument Trust, the Foundation for Sports and Arts and in-house fundraising, the Swan Theatre will be launched into the 21st Century.

The new look building will include a new roof, with major changes to the exterior including modern cladding to the rear and a large balcony extension to the bar area, which will give the theatre a modern, contemporary appearance, particularly when viewed from the direction of the Racecourse.

Inside, patrons will benefit from a new air handling system to keep audiences warm in the winter and cool in the summer, whilst brand new seating throughout the auditorium will provide a smart new look and a comfortable experience! In addition the ground floor toilets will receive a much-needed makeover.

Chris Jaeger, Chief Executive of Worcester Live, is delighted. “This investment from the City Council shows real commitment to the Arts in Worcester, and I can’t wait for the theatre to re-open so we can all start enjoying the improvements”

The renovation work will ensure that the theatre remains a central hub of the community into the future

New Website, new design, new logo

We've updated not only the website, but decided it was time to update the Skylight Logo. The original logo is a few years old now and we felt needed to be simpler, and reflect the service we provide.
OldLogo The Original Skylight Logo

This was designed using a really old clip art program. It's supposed to represent a CD.
NewLogo The New Logo for 2008

The new logo is simpler, cleaner and easier to replicate.
Thanks to Dave Burley for working on the wave form to give the logo the finishing touches.

New State of the Art Led Moving Lights

Skylight has just purchased 8 brand new high power led moving lights. We first saw similar fixtures at Redditch Operatic Society's 2007 production of 'Jeykll and Hyde'. We were so impressed that we looked into purchasing a couple for use by local groups. Having done extensive research we have sourced units direct from a manufacturer in China. These are incredible lights and the great price we have negotiated means 8 of these will be joining Skylight equipment stock in early February 2008.
